Technical Requirements for Trading Analysis
Our technical analysis courses run smoothly on most modern systems. But there are a few things worth checking before you dive in. It's not about having the newest hardware — it's about making sure your setup can handle real-time charts, multiple data feeds, and analysis tools without driving you crazy.
Think of it this way: you wouldn't try to run a marathon in flip-flops. Same principle applies here.
Processor & Memory
You'll want at least a dual-core processor (anything from the last five years works fine). As for RAM, 8GB is the comfortable minimum.
- Intel i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 and up
- 8GB RAM for basic charting
- 16GB if you're planning to run multiple screens
Display Setup
Screen real estate matters more than you'd think. A single 1920x1080 monitor gets the job done, but two monitors make life significantly easier when you're tracking multiple markets.
- Minimum 1920x1080 resolution
- Dual monitors recommended
- Good color accuracy helps spot patterns
Internet Connection
This one's non-negotiable. Trading data moves fast, and spotty internet means you're always playing catch-up. Aim for at least 10 Mbps download speed.
- 10 Mbps minimum stable connection
- Wired connection beats WiFi for reliability
- Backup connection if you're serious
Operating Systems & Software
We've tested our platform across different operating systems. Here's what you need to know about each one, and what software you'll be working with throughout the courses.
Supported Systems
Windows 10 or 11
Most trading platforms were built with Windows in mind. You'll have the smoothest experience here, especially with third-party tools.
- Full compatibility with all charting software
- Best performance for resource-heavy analysis
- Widest range of trading platform options
macOS Monterey or newer
Mac users aren't left out. Most platforms have decent macOS support now, though you might occasionally need workarounds for specialized tools.
- Web-based platforms work perfectly
- Some desktop apps require Parallels
- Great for general analysis work
Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+)
Linux works, but you'll need to be comfortable troubleshooting. Wine helps with Windows-only software, though it's not always elegant.
- Browser-based tools run fine
- Wine required for some applications
- Best for experienced Linux users
Software You'll Use
Trading Platforms
We'll walk you through setting up MetaTrader 4/5, TradingView, and ThinkorSwim during the first week of courses starting October 2025.
- MetaTrader 4 or 5 (free download)
- TradingView account (free tier works)
- Demo accounts for practice
Analysis Tools
Beyond the main platforms, you'll occasionally need spreadsheet software and maybe a note-taking app for tracking your progress.
- Excel or Google Sheets
- PDF reader for course materials
- Screen recording for review sessions
Browser Requirements
Chrome, Firefox, or Safari from the last year. Keep them updated — older versions sometimes struggle with real-time data feeds.
- Chrome 100+ recommended
- JavaScript must be enabled
- Clear at least 2GB cache space

Our Setup Support Approach
Getting your technical environment right can feel overwhelming. We've been there. That's why Jaxon and Petra dedicate the first two sessions of each course cycle to hands-on setup assistance.
They won't just send you documentation and hope for the best. You'll get live screen-sharing sessions where they help you install platforms, configure settings, and troubleshoot whatever weird error messages your system decides to throw at you.
- Live setup sessions via screen sharing every Monday and Thursday
- Troubleshooting support through dedicated Slack channels
- Pre-recorded setup guides for common configurations
- One-on-one sessions available if you're stuck on something unusual
- Hardware recommendations based on your specific needs and budget
Additional Technical Considerations
Beyond the basics, there are a few other technical aspects that'll affect your learning experience. These aren't dealbreakers, but they're worth thinking about before you commit.
Mobile Devices
Tablets and phones work for reviewing materials or checking quick charts. But for actual analysis work? You'll want a proper computer.
- iOS 14+ or Android 10+ for mobile access
- Mobile apps available for basic monitoring
- Not recommended as primary device
Time Zone Flexibility
Market hours vary, and so do our live sessions. We run three different time slots to accommodate students across Asia-Pacific, with recordings available within 24 hours.
Thailand-based students typically join evening sessions at 7 PM Bangkok time. Morning and afternoon options also available.
Data Storage
Historical market data piles up faster than you'd expect. Plan for at least 20GB of free space on your drive, more if you're saving recordings of your analysis sessions.
- 20GB minimum free space
- SSD recommended for faster loading
- Cloud backup for important analysis
Audio & Video
You'll need a working microphone and camera for interactive sessions. Built-in laptop equipment works fine — no need for expensive gear.
- Microphone for Q&A sessions
- Webcam optional but helpful
- Headphones reduce echo issues
Security Software
Antivirus is smart, but overly aggressive settings sometimes flag trading software as suspicious. We'll help you configure exceptions during setup.
Firewalls can block real-time data feeds, so you might need to whitelist specific platforms.
Backup Plans
Hardware fails. Internet cuts out. Having a backup laptop or tablet nearby has saved more than one student from missing crucial lessons.
We also record all live sessions, so if your tech completely dies, you won't fall behind.
